Clinton News Network

If anyone had any doubt if Hillary Clinton would receive the same courtesy as her husband always has on CNN, they need only re-watch last night’s debate. I know media outlets go on the defensive when labeled as biased. Still, if CNN desires to be viewed as a credible news source this election season, they should review the tape of this debate to learn from their mistakes. Better yet, for purposes of becoming a relevant news source once again, they should hire an objective third party who’ll naturally be in better position to give them an honest critique of their shameful performance.

The moderators, including Wolf Blitzer of CNN, Jeanne Cummings from Politico, and Doyle McManus from the Los Angeles Times continually tried to bait Barack Obama into an attack on his opponent. In the same way, through the wording of the questions, they challenged Obama’s stance on issues. With Clinton, on the other hand, she received questions with a favorable vibe. Instead of challenging her views, she was asked to explain why her ideas would work well for America.

It didn’t end there. Occasionally CNN would show live shots of the crowd. As Clinton talked, the cameras often focused on a couple audience members nodding their head in agreement. By contrast, as Obama put forth his vision, we saw the small section of the crowd looking skeptical about what they just heard.

Eventually, I did what I hope most viewers did. I voted with my remote. Therefore, I honestly couldn’t tell you if this charade played out for the entire 90 minutes. If CNN held true to their roots, then I cannot imagine otherwise. To think, out of silly pressure from fringe groups, both Clinton and Obama have labeled FOX as the enemy. For Obama, he needs to re-evaluate his thinking especially in wake of last night. By now, he should really understand the writing on the wall.
