Perverted Andy Harris

Lately, I have seen some mailers from Amigo Harris that honestly seem downright creepy. Now, I realize when fundamentalist candidates such as Harris enter races, we can expect them to attack others from what they perceive as a lack of morality. Never mind that those who beat the drum the loudest are often the ones with the most be ashamed of. Regardless of his motives for his latest campaign trash, voters in the first district have to decide if they really want such a sleaze as their next Congressman.

It started with the Harris attack on Gilchrest for the Congressman's support of Viagra being included in the prescription drug plan. Why did Harris zero in on that drug? Religious folks like Harris seem too preoccupied with the bedroom activities of others. Keep in mind, erectile dysfunction affects millions of Americans. Of course, acknowledging that would be taboo in front of the religious right. It's ironic considering how this group typically stresses larger families.

Today, we get the mailer with a fetus on the front. On a personal level, I despise abortion. I consider myself pro-life. That said, I am sad to concede that I hold the minority view on this issue. I have seen polls, both local and national, and the majority of people still tend to favor abortions. Hence, with Harris using such a graphic image, this may backfire on him. Many pro-abortion people respect the pro-life arguments, but they don't like the other side slapping them in the face.

If Harris were a true conservative, he'd acknowledge that abortion should be state's right issue. To accomplish this, Roe v. Wade will need to be overturned. And since Harris will neither select nor confirm judges from the seat he seeks, one must question his motives for such an ad.
